Portera, the vertical service provider (VSP) that develops and delivers a set of tailored subscription software and outsourcing services to the professional services industry, announced Friday (Jan 12) the signing of ITT Industries, Defense.

The agreement is Portera’s first in the government contracting market since acquiring Maxwell Business Systems last month, and signals the market’s acceptance of the Portera/MBS combination and of Portera as a leading provider of Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliant solutions.

ITT Industries, Defense, a leading provider of tactical mobile communications, electronic warfare and aerospace solutions, will use Portera’s DCAA-compliant JAMIS solution to manage job-costing, job billing and labor distribution in its defense business. These modules will be used in conjunction with their already-implemented Infinium Financials for back-office processing. The agreement also includes use of JAMIS e-timecard – (Portera’s Web-based, DCAA-compliant time entry solution) for up to 8,800 ITT employees.

“We conducted a thorough analysis of the major vendors, including the big ERP players and determined that JAMIS was the best solution for our needs,” remarked Victor Rios, CIO of ITT Industries, Defense. “We found no other solution that could provide the remote connectivity, job costing, labor distribution and job billing capabilities we needed. This will enable us to better serve our customers by improving the processes critical to effective contract management. The functionality of this new system, combined with our DCAA compliance requirements, and our desire to work with an organization dedicated to serving government contractors, made the decision to go with Portera’s JAMIS solution an easy one.”

“ITT Industries, Defense is a recognized leader in the aerospace and defense arena,” said Portera vice president Sassan Chakamian. “Their selection of JAMIS is a clear indication that leading government contractors want solutions designed especially to address their unique needs. It further validates Portera’s position as an innovator serving this important segment of the professional services industry.”

Portera defines a VSP as a company that delivers a comprehensive mix of business software and outsourcing services to customers in a particular industry. Portera is a VSP dedicated to helping consulting firms, creative agencies and other professional services organizations succeed.

Portera’s solutions – based on ServicePort, its professional services automation (PSA) suite – enable these organizations to focus on revenue-generating activities by delivering the software and outsourcing services they need to effectively manage their finances, resources and relationships. Portera’s subscription-based services are delivered over the company’s global hosting and service delivery platform, to ensure the highest levels of security, reliability and performance.
