StorageNetworks, Brocade Extend Partnership

StorageNetworks , of Waltham, Mass., and
Brocade Communications Systems
, of San Jose, Calif., have expanded their alliance to develop storage area network (SAN)
technology and services.

StorageNetworks will test Brocade’s core fabric switch, SilkWorm 12000, for compatibility with StorageNetworks’ operating system, STORos. StorageNetworks
currently uses Brocade infrastructure in its data storage management services.

“Our teams have worked closely for the past two years to speed the deployment and enhance the manageability of multi-vendor SANs,” said Peter Bell,
StorageNetworks’ chairman and CEO. “This effort is dramatically improving the management efficiencies and significantly reducing overall costs in large enterprise
storage environments.”

Shares of STOR gained 0.43, or 7 percent, to 6.49 at midday. BRCD edged up 1.08, or 3 percent, to 39.09.
