International Design and Construction Online (e-IDC.com), an e-business portal for the architectural, engineering and construction (aec) industry, has signed a three-year contract with SwapDrive, a provider of online storage and file management software and services. Under the agreement, e-IDC.com will offer SwapDrive’s Web-based file storage, viewing, sharing and redlining capabilities to its members who include professionals within the AEC community.
The Annapolis, Md.-based e-IDC.com operates as a technology aggregator and infrastructure provider that offers one-stop access to a multitude of services and applications that can be used by its members to help manage business processes more efficiently, while at the same time providing support to strengthen business relationships and enhance customer service.
“Our members have come to rely on us to provide the necessary applications to simplify their workload. It made sense for us to add document storage and collaboration functionality to our growing list of services. With more designers and contractors doing business online, DesignPACK was an ideal choice that enables our members to streamline the editing and approval process of projects, saving them time and money. The response has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Michael Reibsamen, chief operating officer for e-IDC.com.
The Washington, D.C.-based SwapDrive is a Web storage solutions provider that offers business users enhanced Internet-based file management solutions, allowing them to access their files anytime, from anywhere, using just a Web browser. The company has partnered with companies including Exodus Communications, EMC, Veritas and StorageNetworks, Inc.
According to SwapDrive Chief Executive Officer Marc Wallace, SwapDrive was selected by e-IDC.com based on several factors including ease of integration, speed to market, cost effectiveness and professional staff.
“e-IDC.com originally considered building the functionality in-house but decided that it would be more cost-efficient to outsource the service. After evaluating SwapDrive and other similar services they chose DesignPACK,” said Wallace. “This is a great win for us and we’re excited to work with e-IDC.com to provide a top-notch value added service to their customers. We look forward to expanding our relationship to introduce e-IDC.com’s services to our engineering and design customers who are looking for a full-workflow construction
platform.”
