TriActive to Manage Active Power’s IT Infrastructure

TriActive Inc., a leading enterprise Management Service Provider (MSP), announced today (Jan 3) that Active Power Inc. (Nasdaq:ACPW) is utilizing TriActive Systems Manager to optimize management of Active Power’s IT infrastructure. Active Power’s IT team supports over 150 personal computers and servers in a high-growth environment.

“Today’s IT challenges for mid-sized companies demand a viable enterprise in terms of computer and network systems management,” said Glyn Meek, TriActive’s CEO and president. “Active Power wanted an IT solution that could integrate well with current system applications while providing the highest level of support to its infrastructure.”

TriActive delivers full-range enterprise systems management to mid-sized IT organizations using the MSP subscription model. TriActive Systems Manager integrates and automates routine systems management functions for PCs, servers, networks and the web, focusing on simplicity, affordability and rapid benefit.

Active Power first began evaluating the TriActive service in August 2000. Having completed a successful IPO recently, the company needed scalable, stable IT solutions to enable its critical business functions to operate and grow effectively with the corporate expansion.

“Active Power’s infrastructure is rapidly growing and to keep it stable is the ultimate requirement.” Ken Dillman, Active Power’s IT manager adds, “Balancing the IT team between infrastructure issues and allocating resources to develop mission-critical business solutions led to the decision to deploy TriActive System Manager.”

Active Power designs, manufactures and markets power quality products that provide the consistent, reliable electric power required by today’s digital economy. Targeting a large segment of the $11 billion power quality market, Active Power’s battery-free power quality solutions eliminate power disturbances, which are estimated to cost the U.S. industry $30 billion annually in lost data and productivity.

Active Power utilizes TriActive Systems Manager to monitor and manage PCs and servers, monitor servers for uptime and performance, and conduct help desk trouble ticket tracking and reporting.

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, TriActive utilizes its proprietary Internet-based MicroAgent for real-time system monitoring and control. A founding member of the MSP Association, TriActive delivers optimized practices sized specifically for the middle market, consisting of organizations with approximately 200 to 5,000 total devices including PCs and servers.
