WebEx Inks Penn Mutual Life

WebEx Communications, Inc. , the San Jose, Calif.-based Web conferencing ASP, today announced The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, the nation’s second oldest mutual life insurer,as its new customer.

Through providing its switch-based communications infrastructure that supports
interactive data, voice and video communications, WebEx says Penn Mutual is able to
hold interactive training sessions and sales meetings over the Web.

Before WebEx, Penn Mutual says that before using WebEx, its technology training
team would be out of the office for as long as a week, conducting multi-city training
sessions. But now, the training can be conducted in a matter of hours, increasing staff
productivity.

Penn Mutual used WebEx during to roll out a new agency management system to
more than 50 field offices nationwide, which enabled the firm to introduce the new
system in six weeks, a process which would normally have taken several months.

“WebEx has saved us thousands of dollars in travel expenses and allowed us to
provide more training than would have been possible in the past,” said Michael Williams,
manager, Technology Education, within the Field Technology division of Penn Mutual.

“WebEx allows us to offer more proactive training to the sales force and maximize
the use of each training session with the record and playback functions. It has also
increased the productivity and availability of the technology training staff and has
become a critical part of our training strategy. We plan to continue expanding the our use
of this product,” he explains.

“Penn Mutual is a solid example of how a company can save time and money while
increasing productivity using WebEx,” said Jim Moise, vice president of sales of WebEx
Communications.

“Because WebEx supports the entire range of communications, Penn Mutual
employees can gain the same benefits from an in-person training seminar. This
demonstrates how companies can improve their training and e-learning programs using
WebEx’s interactive web communications services.”
