Furthering its commitment to the provision of Web Services, webMethods, Inc.
, a provider of integration software, Friday announced it would offer enterprise customers capabilities for integrating, managing, and maintaining Web Services.
The company is providing this functionality in its latest version of the webMethods integration platform, which is designed for what it calls Global Business Visibility — linking business processes, enterprise and legacy systems, databases and workflow within and across applications.
WebMethods says the new capabilities will extend its existing support of Web Services to address three significant issues associated with enterprise-class deployments that include: exploiting Web Services within an enterprise business process management environment, guaranteeing compliance with service level obligations between providers and subscribers, and combining support for emerging protocols such as SOAP and WSDL with support for established data format and commerce standards.
In addressing requirements of combining Web Services capabilities with webMethods’ business process management environment, webMethods says the Integration Platform allows organizations to model, execute and manage business processes within an integrated solution for connecting applications, customers and suppliers.
“With all the rhetoric surrounding Web Services we think it is critical that we provide real solutions which focus on the reality of the problems businesses are trying to solve,” says Jim Green, executive vice president and CTO of webMethods, Inc.
He argues that webMethods’ implementation and enhancement of its Web Services capabilities gives enterprises the ability to seamlessly manage a Web Service as part of a comprehensive business process.
