WebSideStory Unveils HitBox Enterprise 6.5

San Diego, Calif.-based WebSideStory is touting its new outsourced ebusiness service HitBox Enterprise Version 6.5 as one of the first analysis services that can measure and track user interaction with anything built with Macromedia Flash.

With Flash being widely used in business applications for advertising, ecommerce, presentations, training courses, and promotional sites, the ability to track customer response to a flash presentation can provide an invaluable asset to the company producing the animation and lead to revenue-improving strategies for Web design and advertising.

In addition to Flash tracking, HitBox Enterprise provides multi-level content grouping for sites that are rich in content and multimedia applications.

HitBox Enterprise is modeled after earlier versions of the company’s HitBox technology that includes HitBox Professional, a Web analytic service that can determine the volume and type of visitor to a Web page and help a business adapt and improve online marketing efforts.

“HitBox Enterprise is the first service of its kind that can track flash at all,” said Michael Christian, senior vice president of WebSideStory. “Embedded in 6.5 is an invention that gives us the capability to track interaction inside Flash files, a function that is not possible to do with software that processes Web server logs.

HitBox Enterprise can also track a visitor’s download activity, both by files downloaded and total downloads over time, as well as provide information on what types of Internet connections visitors have.

“The problem our customers had with Flash was accountability; they want to track visitor activity within Flash,” said Alex Konanykhin, president of KMGI Studios, Inc., an interactive production company. “We think WebSideStory’s new capability could lead to a big increase in the use of Flash for important business applications because it is now a measurable medium.”

Founded in 1996, WebSideStory provides hosted ebusiness services designed to help companies profit from their Web presence.
