The provision of services though the cloud is changing the software business, according to Gene Hoffman, chairman and CEO of Vindicia. “The distinction between business and consumer is fading,” he told InternetNews.com.
“Many business software providers have not dealt with individual users before,” he explained. “Now they have to deal with each business unit. They’re talking to a senior manager they would have never called on before.”
Hoffman said that Vindicia pays for Salesforce on a credit card, and not every billing system is designed to handle a credit card that’s used for both business and personal items.
“Google has changed ad budgets,” he said. He added that one of his customers runs a $100,000 marketing budget on four credit cards, each with a $25,000 per month limit. The director of marketing gets the airline miles and the employer doesn’t mind.
