Cisco Systems Inc. introduced today
Cisco Networked Office, a new networking solution designed for small- to
medium-sized businesses.

The suite offers secure remote access using Cisco’s firewall products and
flexible connectivity that enable small businesses equipped with local area
networks (LANs) to connect to wide-area networks (WANs) through ISDN,
asynchronous serial, and synchronous serial connections.

The Office suite comprises the Cisco 1548 Micro Switch 10/100 for
establishing LANs in the businesses; the Cisco 1528 Micro Hub 10/100, which
is designed to offer companies ten times the bandwidth of a standard
Ethernet hub; and the Cisco Micro Webserver 200, a “plug-and-play” Web
hosting device that features intranet and Web site management tools.

“We have dramatically simplified the installation and network configuration
process of these [components in the Networked Office stack] to ensure that
customers will realize immediate success in both local area networking as
well as connecting to and conducting business over the Internet,” said
Howard Charney, senior vice president of the Small/Medium Business Line of
Business at Cisco Systems.

Cisco is offering a leasing and financing program to small businesses in
support of the product, available in February 1998. For more information
