IntraNet Solutions Beefs Up Wireless Tools

Web content manager IntraNet Solutions Inc. Tuesday unveiled product
upgrades of its Outside In viewing technology to meet the demand for access
to business content via wireless devices.

As a base product, Outside In lets software developers deploy viewing and
conversion of file-based information within their application environment to
address users’ various information management requirements.

The upgraded Outside In® WML Export technology includes the ability to
convert graphic images directly to Wireless Bitmap (WBMP), the standard
format for displaying graphic images on wireless devices.

With the new features, images and graphical information delivered through
WML Export can be quickly displayed on wireless devices without additional
conversion on the wireless application protocol (WAP) server.

Kevin Ellis, senior product manager at Phone.com, can attest to the
importance of quality wireless access. His firm is a software provider that
enables the delivery of Internet-based services to mass-market wireless
telephones. Thus, Intranet Solutions new product would be useful for
Phone.com’s clients.

“IntraNet Solutions’ Outside In technologies greatly extend the value of
wireless Internet access by giving users access to content from a wide range
of sources which they can view on their mobile phones,” Ellis said.

Scott Norder, president of the Information Exchange Division of IntraNet
Solutions, said the new product was expansive: The viewing and conversion
technologies will give those mobile users access to business information
locked in over 225 file formats.

The enhanced Outside In WML Export will ship in late November 2000.
