IntraNet Solutions Inc. (INRS) Thursday teamed with portal specialist Sybase
Inc. to develop a solution with which businesses can manage content in a
portal interface.
Under the agreement, for which financial terms were not disclosed, IntraNet
Solutions has joined Sybase’s e-Portal Alliance, a group that offers
e-business applications with Sybase’s flagship Enterprise Portal (EP). The
firms will integrate INRS’ Xpedio Content Management system into the Sybase
EP, which provides customers with access to enterprise applications.
Sybase Enterprise Portal 2.0 extends portal functionality to mobile and
wireless users; the portal uses Sybase’s wireless technology along with new
business-to-business application integration, XML/EDI transformations and
globalization features to improve the productivity of internal and external
e-Business processes. Simply, companies can run their businesses more
efficiently with the mesh of portal and solution.
With Xpedio, INRS’ top product, portal users can contribute content to Web
sites in a variety of formats, such as word processing documents,
spreadsheets or graphics. Xpedio then automatically publishes this content
to numerous Web formats, such as HTML, XML, PDF or WML.
Sybase also recently validated Xpedio’s Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition
(J2EE) compliant Enterprise JavaBean (EJB) against the Sybase EAServer.
IntraNet Solutions first added the EJB to Xpedio in March 2001 to aid
companies in integrating Xpedio’s content management capabilities into
e-business applications built on J2EE application servers, such as the
Sybase EAServer.
Dan Ryan, vice president of marketing and business development for IntraNet
Solutions, said bundling Xpedio and Sybase
EP helps enterprises share business information to meet initiatives through
a Web-based point of access.
