Tideworks Goes with Intranet from Eprise

Terminal operator Tideworks Technology Monday said it has spawned a
new global intranet powered by Eprise Corp.’s Participant Server.

Tideworks Technology, a division of marine terminal operator Stevedoring
Services of America (SSA), provides software solutions to cargo terminal
operators worldwide and needed the portal as its key information conduit for
1,200 employees throughout the world.

By embracing the intranet as the ultimate employee-connecting tool on the
Web today, SSA, like many other facilities, is looking to get a finger on
the pulse of its employees by keeping them wired. With more than 150
business units worldwide, SSA felt creating an intranet was the optimal way
to keep everybody in the know.

SSA’s new intranet will support its business units by providing human
resources functions such as benefits management, payroll, business
templates — even an electronic version of the company’s 300-page employee
handbook.

Of all the firms that provide knowledge management solutions, from IntraNet
Solutions Inc. to Plumtree Software Corp., Eprise won the bid.

Michelle Boone, Tideworks’ marketing manager, said her firm trusts Eprise
because of its reputation and because the firm’s consulting services will be
something Tideworks can fall back on if needed.

“Beyond the technology, the Enterprise Advantage consulting services from
Eprise are helping us ensure a successful launch by evaluating our business
specifications, user and contributor needs, as well as helping us marry
these to our business needs, and then creating templates that meet our
specific requirements,” Boone said.

Eprise, whose Participant Server also enables localized views based on the
user’s location and title within SSA, has integrated its products with
technologies from companies such as Microsoft, Inktomi and Net Perceptions.
