Productivity solutions ASP vFirm Systems Inc. Wednesday (Jan 31) announced that it has selected Opendesk Corporation’s web-based Intranet as the core application of its vWebTop ASP offering.

“Speed and flexibility were key drivers for us in choosing a provider,” says Tommy Blanchard, VP of Business Development for vFirm. “We needed the speed associated with an out-of-the-box solution with the flexibility of a custom job. Opendesk was able to deliver. We configured the vWebTop Intranet in a fraction of the time it would have taken us to plan a custom solution.”

Opendesk’s private-label Intranet allows service providers like vFirm to quickly deliver ASP services to their customers under their own brand. By licensing the Opendesk Intranet, vFirm was able to customize and deploy their own branded suite of productivity applications. The vWebTop allows customers the option to choose from a menu of applications, including specialty applications such as document management and time/billing.

“We’re delighted to be the anchor tenant in a service that really meets the needs of professional services firms,” says Raymond Luk, CEO of Opendesk. “vFirm’s advantage is two-fold – a deep understanding of its segment; and deep technical understanding of the future of ASPs and hosted applications.”

vFirm provides web-based applications that give the small business professional an efficient, low-cost and hassle-free alternative to purchasing and hosting applications themselves. By partnering with leading web-based application providers, vFirm has established a suite of collaborative groupware – including email, contacts, shared calendar and chat – along with specialty applications like time/billing and accounting applications.
