INT Media Group, Inc., announced on Wednesday that its upcoming 802.11 PLANET Fall 2001 Conference & Expo — the first trade show in the world focused on the business strategies associated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 broadband wireless standards — has been endorsed by the group that
certifies and promotes Wi-Fi wireless LAN products, the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA).

The Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA) is a nonprofit
organization formed in 1999 to certify interoperability of Wi-Fi (IEEE
802.11b) products and to promote Wi-Fi as the global, wireless LAN standard across all market segments. Over 150 products (access points, PCI cards, PCMCIA cards and mini-PCI modules) from 50 WECA member companies have been certified since March of 2000.

The event will take place for the first time at the Santa Clara Convention Center on October 2-3, 2001. Keynotes for the show include David Cohen, Chairman of WECA, and Dean Douglas, General Manager of Wireless e-business Services, Americas, for IBM Global Services. Other speakers include Allan Scott of Agere Systems; Jeff Abramowitz, President of the Wireless LAN Association (WLANA); Robert Kaiser, CEO of MobileStar Network Corporation; Dennis Eaton, Strategic Marketing Manager of Wireless Networking Products for Intersil Americas Inc.; and Christine Falsetti, Director of Marketing for Cisco Systems, among others.
