San Jose, Calif.-based BEA Systems announced the last phase of its acquisition of CrossLogix, Inc. this week.
The deal is expected to enable the infrastructure developer to expand security applications for its WebLogic Enterprise Platform, a unified platform for developing and running enterprise applications and Web services.
CrossLogix is a privately held provider of security infrastructure software solutions based in Redwood Shores, Calif. The company’s flagship product is CrossLogix3, a management tool for deploying security policy modeling based on Java Server Pages.
CrossLogix3, and its recently released predecessor CrossLogix3.2, provide a platform for the creation of a wide range of access control policies, deploying those policies throughout a corporate network, and answering and tracking authorization requests.
CrossLogix3.2 is a simplified version that is designed for administrators who don’t have the time and resources to master the complexities of security policy implementation.
According to a BEA spokesperson, the acquisition was the next logical step in BEA’s infrastructure strategy.
CrossLogix 3.2 will be used to build upon WebLogic’s security framework.
In the coming months, the spokesperson added, BEA will be more forthcoming with details regarding the integration of CrossLogix products.
In 2000, CrossLogix closed $22 million in venture funding from investors Sierra Ventures, Red Rock Ventures, Canaan Partners, FT Ventures, NIF/Daiwa Ventures, and RWI Group.
Financial terms of the BEA/CrossLogix acquisition were not disclosed by either company.
Earlier this week, BEA announced the release of BEA Tuxedo 8.1 with Web services capabilities and tighter integration with its WebLogic Enterprise Platform.
BEA maintains offices in 34 countries.
