Bloomberg Launches Hispanic Finance Portal

May 13, 1999

To attract U.S. Latino Internet users, considered the fastest growing Net population in the country, Bloomberg L.P. Thursday launched a finance portal catering specifically to the Spanish-speaking audience.

NegociosBloomberg.com is a bilingual personal finance portal that features Spanish-language radio reports, video feeds, book excerpts, market news, and headlines and customizable tools. The site launch augments Negocios Bloomberg, a nationally syndicated Spanish-language business radio report, which began in January.

“The opportunity in the U.S. Hispanic market is staggering,” said Michael Bloomberg, Bloomberg L.P.’s founder
and chief executive officer. “At the same time, there’s a gap in targeted personal finance news and
information online that we’re excited to fill.”

Financial journalist Laura Castaneda, co-author of The Latino Guide to Personal Money Management, helped develop the site. She said it caters to the rapidly expanding Latino Internet user base.

“Hispanic consumers. . .have particular needs that this site addresses, like tracking foreign financial
markets, converting currencies, and following Latin American stocks,” she said. “At a more basic level,
NegociosBloomberg.com will also give Hispanic consumers the tools they need to take control of their finances.”
