Data General Corporation announced the availability of Web-Track 3.0, a Java-based document access manager that gives users secure access to documents stored on the vendor’s AV Image database.

Data General said the new version supports production-level imaging with improved speed and scalability.

“This enhanced version of our web offering provides our customers with a secure and economical way to manage documents and access images over the web
in both an Internet or intranet environment,” said Michael Fowler, director of Data General’s Imaging Business Unit.”

“Combined with our family of NT or UNIX AViiON servers, CLARiiON storage systems, and worldwide services capabilities Data General is delivering a single source for complete, production imaging solutions.”

Platform and database independent, Web-Track 3.0 offers the facilities of the
powerful AV Image FX technology, enabling users of AV Image to view
pre-scaled, full-page images from multiple documents in rapid succession. AV
Image FX enhances the display speed while minimizing the impact on the
network.

Scheduled to ship within 60 days, Web-Track 3.0 costs $1,995 per 25
concurrent users.
