DealTime.com Launches Localized Service in Germany

Online comparison shopping service DealTime.com launched a new site offering German shoppers
access to deals offered by local merchants on the Web in Germany, including
shopping catalogs, which are popular with shoppers there.

The site lets German users search the Web to find the products they want at
the prices they are willing to pay in Deutsche marks. The launch in Germany
follows the opening of a UK site.

German merchant categories include computers, flowers and gifts, appliances,
software, home and garden, electronics, and office supplies, with additional
categories scheduled.

“By localizing our service in Germany and other international markets,
DealTime
users can search local merchants, get the best deals on a variety of
products, and pay merchants in local currency,” said Dan Ciporin, president
and chief executive officer of DealTime.com. “In addition, German consumers
can avoid the international shipping rates, custom duties/taxes and foreign
exchange fluctuations normally associated with shopping on Web sites that
mirror their offerings internationally.”

The flagship DealTime site allows consumers to compare models, brands,
merchant types and prices from merchants across the Web, as well as off-line
sellers. DealAgent, DealTime’s dynamic pricing engine, aids merchants and
manufacturers by providing aggregated indication-of-interest data about
consumer buying activity through DealTime.
