hemscott.NET Launches New Legal Portal

UK business information provider
hemscott.NET has launched its new legal portal
Hemscott Legal.

The new service is intended to facilitate communication between
commercial law firms and their major corporate clients.

Headed by Pauline Lyle-Smith, founder of the legal DX
postal system and a former editor of the Chambers & Partners
legal directory, Hemscott Legal has three main features.

First is an extensive database of deal and dispute particulars
aimed at helping in-house lawyers locate specialist expertise
in commercial law firms. Second is a legal recruitment service,
and third a bulletin board where participants can discuss legal
issues.

“The Internet will become a vital medium for the future of legal
business development,” said Pauline Lyle-Smith.

“We aim to make Hemscott Legal the principal international
platform which brings clients and law firms together.”

hemscott.NET is the spin-off of all Hemmington Scott’s content,
database and Internet activities. Last month, saw the appointment
of a new CEO when Rosalyn Wilton joined the company from Reuters
Information.

“Hemscott Legal is only the first of a series of specialist
vertical portals we plan for specific business and professional
communities,” said Wilton.

“I am enormously excited about its prospects. Lawyers already
use our company data but the new specialist legal information
will not only be extremely valuable to the legal profession
but also to other users in a wider business context.”
