Internet Gold to Launch Children’s Portal

Oct 20, 1999

Internet Gold this week announced a planned joint venture with three leading independent children’s television producers to create an Internet portal exclusively for children.

The new initiative will offer the first portal with activities specifically for children and teenagers in Israel. It will contain links to popular television programs, including family-oriented interactive activities.

“One of the big advantages of this joint venture is that it gives children the ability to surf the Internet without being exposed to adult material,” said Eli Holtzman, Internet Gold’s CEO.

Internet Gold (IGLD) will invest $4 million in the venture over the next few years. The company will also have a controlling share of the entity with 51 percent equity participation and an equal standing of 50 percent for management.

“This venture, which follows our recent agreement with Microsoft Corp, for the establishment of MSN Israel, is another implementation of our growth strategy focusing on content and e-commerce,” said Holtzman.

Currently, Internet Gold is the leading ISP in Israel, providing access to approximately 95 percent of the Israeli population.
