Net.DB From Centura Provides Easy Access To Data

Centura Software Corporation
announced the release of Centura net.DB, a tool that allows users to
navigate, query, and publish database information and graphics.

“We recognized the need for customers to allow end-users direct access to
corporate
information in a cost-effective manner. With Centura net.DB,
non-programmers can take advantage of interactive content either via the
Internet, an extranet or an intranet environment. This provides quick
satisfaction for the end-user and significant cost savings for the
business,” said Scott Broomfield, Centura’s Chief Executive Officer.

With Centura net.DB, customers can navigate, query, and publish database
data, including graphs, charts and images. It provides a simple
point-and-click method that allows users to query a database and then view
the results as HTML pages. It works with any major Relational Database
Management System (RDBMS).

Users may query a company phone directory, or perform tasks such as sales
order and inventory tracking, help-desk management, customer support and
account management. Although designed for non-programmers, it is, says the
vendor, sufficiently versatile to allow experienced users to create their
own ad hoc queries.

Centura net.DB’s features include a browser-based interface; connectivity to
any database that supports ODBC, and easy installation on any server
running Windows NT or Windows 95.

The vendor (formerly Gupta Corporation) says the new system is already
available for testing, and will be shipped in April.
