Online media marketplace Adauction.com launched a sales channel
for outdoor advertising, following a trial run billboard auction last month.
Out-of-home inventory is currently available for San Francisco, Los Angeles
and New York, the company said, and will expand to additional key markets over
the next quarter. The company began by selling Web ad space and latter added
print publications.
In last months beta test auction Adauction.com sold billboard spaces on
Highway 101, Silicon Valley’s main thoroughfare. Adauction.com is now offering a
variety
of other out-of-home, premium properties such as building scapes, bus boards,
taxi toppers, and sports stadium advertising.
Current inventory for sale includes billboards at Century Boulevard outside
of Los Angeles International Airport, on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, and
on 35th Street facing the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan to run
during Fall Internet World.
“Last month’s auction created access for media buyers to previously
unavailable inventory and yielded an average price of 35 percent over rate
card for board owners,” said Chris Redlitz, president and CEO of
Adauction.com. “Offering this ad inventory via the Internet allows the owners
of these types of out-of-home advertising properties the ability to reach a
larger audience, and sell their inventory quicker and more efficiently.”
