In a deal that brings AdForce-served
ads to devices like the Sega Dreamcast console, CMGI‘s ad serving firm on Monday joined
forces with PlanetWeb, a software
provider for Internet appliances.
Under the terms of the deal, AdForce will serve targeted advertisements to
Planetweb-enabled devices, such as Sega Dreamcast game consoles, Planetweb
iDVD (Internet-enabled DVD players), and set-top boxes.
“Reaching consumers with targeted ads delivered to digital platforms opens
up a host of opportunities for revenue-generating ad promotion and
incentive campaigns,” said Gordon Short, vice president of marketing and
business development for Planetweb.
“AdForce’s ability to transmit ads to Internet Appliances allows us to
participate in shaping the burgeoning t-commerce (television commerce)
marketing model.”
The deal is part of Adforce’s AdForce Everywhere initiative, which aims to
serve ads on wireless devices, interactive television, point-of-sale
displays, Internet appliances, and other consumer devices.
The companies plan to begin delivering the first ads to Planetweb’s Sega Dreamcast portal in the
third quarter of 2000, and will also deliver ads to Planetweb’s
Internet-enabled iDVD appliances. The ads will be served as banners,
buttons, ad pages, and billboards.
