Search and commerce operation AltaVista has selected Engage Technologies Inc. to provide enhanced
profile-driven online advertising technology and services.

AltaVista and Engage are both majority-owned operating companies of CMGI Inc.
AltaVista will deploy Engage’s ProfileServer, an application-independent
profiling platform that generates and delivers individual profiles of Web
visitors in real time, allowing sites to deliver targeted advertising and
content.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“AltaVista is a premium network for advertisers to reach a desirable and
affluent online audience,” said Rod Schrock, president and CEO of AltaVista
Co. “The profile-driven technology adds another potent weapon in our arsenal
for advertisers to hone their messages to Web enthusiasts.”

AltaVista will also participate in Engage AudienceNet, the new Web-wide
profile driven ad network just announced.
