America Online and Metrocall Sign Marketing Pact

America Online and Metrocall Inc., a provider of >wireless connections, signed an exclusive multi-year interactive marketing agreement to promote Metrocall’s paging products and wireless messaging services throughout the AOL service and on AOL.com.


Links will be placed directing users to Metrocall’s Website, metrocall.com, where AOL users can send text or numeric messages to any of Metrocall’s millions of subscribers, purchase pagers and accessories and choose from a variety of messaging services and price plans for personal or business use.


AOL said it will receive guaranteed payments from Metrocall over the two-year
term of the agreement, and will also be eligible to receive additional payments
based on certain performance criteria specified in the agreement. Financial
specifics were not disclosed.


“This marketing alliance is evidence of our confidence in the online
medium as a successful distribution channel and makes the strongest possible
connection to the online world for Metrocall,” said William L. Collins III,
president and CEO.
