DoubleClick Asian Affiliate Snags Malaysian Web Clients

Nov 14, 2000

DoubleClick’s Asian affiliate DoubleClick Media announced Tuesday that it has signed several high-profile Malaysian publishing clients to its network, boosting its regional presence and securing a foothold in Malaysia’s emerging Web space.

DoubleClick Media, which is a joint venture in Asia between Asiacontent.com and DoubleClick, has exclusive agreements with portals Skali.com and CARI.com, ISP Maxis Net, and content sites TIME dotNet, InvestorsXchange, Zoom Finance and AsiaOnAir.

“We are thrilled to announce seven new Web site affiliates in Malaysia over the last six months since entering the market,” said DoubleClick Media chief executive Steve Moss. “The addition of Malaysia’s premium online brands and leading ISPs extends our market leadership and influence in Malaysia.”

Since entering the Malaysian market earlier this year, DoubleClick Media has begun repping a total of 11 regional Web sites on an exclusive basis, serving more than seven million impressions monthly for advertisers including Intel, Siemens, Shell, 3Com, IBM, Oracle, Sutera Harbour Resorts, VOLAsia.com and Procter & Gamble.

In addition to boosting its own business, DoubleClick Media said it latest additions underscore its plans to help build Malaysia’s Internet economy.

“There are great opportunities for DoubleClick Media to expand rapidly in Malaysia,” said Rosemary Lising, Malaysia country manager, DoubleClick Media.

“Malaysia has a vibrant and rapidly developing Internet community. DoubleClick Media expects to garner a dominant share in this market and is committed to helping educate and setting standards for this new advertising medium.”

Last month, DoubleClick executives confirmed that it would buy out Asiacontent’s share of DoubleClick Media within the next several years, although they denied that the purchase is related to market rumors that Asiacontent is seeking a buyer.
