Epinions.com, OpenTable.com Plan Co-Branded Site

May 10, 2000

Consumer review site Epinions.com
this week partnered with restaurant reservation firm OpenTable.com to create a co-branded
site that marries their specialties — opinions about restaurants and
reservations.

The deal gives OpenTable.com exposure through Epinions.com, as well as
content that may help drive customers to the restaurants it serves. For
Epinions.com, the deal provides added functionality to its users. Financial
terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

The site will let
consumers search through user-created reviews of restaurants, then make
reservations at the ones in which they’re interested.

“In the short time since we’ve added restaurant reviews to the Epinions.com
site, they have become one of the most popular areas on our network,” said
Nirav Tolia, co-founder and chief executive officer of Epinions.com.

So far, the company has collected around 5,000 restaurant reviews.
OpenTable.com only works with a few hundred of those locales, but it is
working to expand across the country.
