Women’s network iVillage Inc. signed a $22.5 million
sponsorship and content deal with healthcare destination site PlanetRx.com.
Terms of the deal include a three-year sponsorship agreement and a
two-and-a-half year content license agreement in which PlanetRx.com will pay
to be the exclusive online retailer for iVillage.com for prescriptions,
over-the-counter medications and vitamins,
as well as to have access to selected information and tools.
In addition, iVillage has made a $7.5 million equity investment in
PlanetRx.com.
iVillage.com members will be introduced to PlanetRx.com through the
iVillage.com network in the areas of health, diet, fitness and beauty and
parenting.
The agreement includes a permanent front-page placement of
PlanetRx.com on the iVillage.com network and prominent placement on
iVillage’s health site.
In addition, PlanetRx.com products will be marketed to iVillage members as
well as to iBaby and iMaternity customers. The sponsorship also includes
off-line components through the Lamaze Publishing Co. magazines and its national
satellite television network into hospitals.
