Mimeo.com, a printing service that
receives documents over the Net, on Monday kicked off a $20 million
campaign that jokingly thanks Vice President Al Gore for inventing the
Internet.

The campaign, created by the Martin
Agency
, debuts today with a full-page center spread in the Wall
Street Journal
and USA Today.

The ad pokes fun at Gore’s infamous comments about inventing the Internet,
by thanking him for making possible Mimeo.com’s entry into the online
document production business.

“Our ads are an interesting way to capture people’s attention, introduce
our company and category and have a little tongue-in-cheek fun,” said
Robert Miller, vice president of marketing for Mimeo.com.

“Our intention is to use this statement, which has become a part of current
pop culture, to draw attention to a growing online industry.”
