MSNBC.com Launches Frequent Visitor Rewards Program

Jan 14, 1999

MSNBC on the Internet launched a program to reward frequent visitors to its
Web site.

The new program, “Return Rewards,” allows users to register every day for
frequent-flier mileage prizes totaling 80,000 miles in daily rewards and a
100,000-mile monthly grand prize.

Each daily visit to check the top stories, market updates, or any of the
content on MSNBC.com is an opportunity to enter to win
with “Return Rewards.” Daily rewards of airline miles in varying amounts will
be issued to users who sign up for the mileage giveaway. One name randomly
selected from a month’s registration will win 100,000 airline miles to be used
as they wish. The miles will be provided by American Airlines, United Airlines
and Continental Airlines, among others.

The promotion was developed for MSNBC on the Internet by Quantum Leap Communications, a
Chicago-based Internet advertising agency. Spending was not disclosed.

MSNBC.com records 8.8 million unique users a month, according to Media Metrix.
The site delivers the best of NBC, MSNBC and CNBC. MSNBC is a partnership
between NBC and Microsoft.
