Web measurement firm NetRatings Inc. launched Internet
Investment Strategies, a research service providing securities analysts,
investment bankers and venture capitalists with data and analysis on Internet
companies and industry trends.
The information and analysis will be based on comprehensive Internet use
figures and advertising data from the new Nielsen//NetRatings service.
Internet Investment Strategies is a syndicated service that will deliver
weekly, monthly and quarterly reports that combine quantitative and
qualitative market research based on information from the Nielsen//NetRatings
research sample of more than 14,000 users. Price points were not disclosed.
Initial financial services clients of the new service include PaineWebber,
C.E. Unterberg, Towbin and CIBC Oppenheimer. The new service will be headed
by Allen Weiner, who had headed Dataquest’s Internet coverage, and now has
joined NetRatings as vice president, analytical services. He is joined by
senior Internet analyst Peggy O’Neill, also formerly with Dataquest.
“The Internet market is hot and investment analysts need timely, reliable
information and insight to help them sort through the buzz and hype,” said
Weiner. “Our analysis, based on the superior end-user data of the
Nielsen//NetRatings service, will give them valuable perspective and solid
support for the crucial decisions they are making every day.”
The Nielsen//NetRatings service, launched on March 22, combines the research
expertise of Nielsen Media Research and the
Internet measurement technology of NetRatings. More than 100 customers
already have subscribed to the service.
