Real Media said that Netscape Communications
Corp. selected the advanced version of its Open AdStream software as the
preferred ad management system for Netscape’s PublishingXpert 2.0 software.
Netscape PublishingXpert is a scaleable solution for publishing, delivering
and selling a range of content and services over the Internet, and is part of
the Netscape CommerceXpert product family, which provides solutions for
business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce.
Netscape will sell a special version of Open AdStream (OAS) that integrates
the product’s advanced advertising features with PublishingXpert’s content
delivery and personalization features. Financial details of the deal were not
disclosed.
Netscape said the combined strength of the two products will provide
customers with the ability to target advertising and content to users based
on user preferences and customer position within a site. This includes
targeting advertising during searches, personal pages and e-mail delivery
of content. Netscape PublishingXpert with OAS will be packaged, marketed
and sold worldwide by Netscape and its channel partners.
Said Steve Savignano, senior vice president and general manager of the
applications product division at Netscape: “We selected Open AdStream
because it was one of the most feature-rich ad management systems on the
market and it fit very well within the CommerceXpert architecture, which
allowed us to tightly integrate OAS into our PublishingXpert solution.”
“Since many of Netscape’s publishing industry customers also want to sell
advertising on their Web sites, it is a natural for Netscape to include an
ad-system in its publishing system,” said Real Media President Dave Morgan.
Real Media is a New York-based Internet advertising solutions company backed
by Swiss media conglomerate PubliGroupe.
