Start-up wireless player smartRay.com
on Monday took a crucial first step as it ramps up, signing a first
advertiser — Showtime Networks
— for the entertainment section of its mobile content network.

The ad campaign, in which Showtime will sponsor entertainment-related
content delivered to mobile phones, pagers, and wireless PDAs, is the first
part of a relationship with the two companies. Eventually, the companies
hope to develop additional custom wireless content and programming,
including program schedules and reminders, behind-the-scenes information,
and movie reviews.

“We’re excited to take the Showtime brand name to the newest ‘small
screen’– cell phones, pagers and PDAs,” said Troy Tyler, president and
chief executive officer of smartRay Network Inc.

“This partnership is the perfect example of our ability to combine leading
content providers with a relevant advertiser. We were seeking a
category-leading innovator to sponsor our wireless entertainment content,
and we’re thrilled to have partnered with a trusted entertainment
organization like Showtime.”
