ValueClick Launches Online Advertising Referral Program

Jul 1, 1998

Santa Barbara, CA-based pay-per-click ad company ValueClick launched what it calls the ValueClick Referral Program.

The new program is designed to satisfy the increasing demand from advertisers
for cost per click, and to add value for existing ValueClick member sites, the
company said.

ValueClick referral is targeted to ISPs, Web hosting companies, and current
ValueClick members who can refer other publishers to the ValueClick Network.

By referring other publishers who can host ValueClick ad banners on their
sites, ISPs, Web hosting companies, and existing ValueClick members can earn a
referral commission on click-throughs on referee sites, the company said.

Once a referral becomes an approved ValueClick member, the referring partner
receives a commission on every click-through from a ValueClick banner ad
placed on that site. Publishers earn $0.06 to $0.12 for each click-through on
advertising banners they host. Referral Partners earn $0.01 (one cent) per
click-through from sites they referred, which is paid through ValueClick and
not from the publisher’s revenue.

The ValueClick Network is comprised of about 6,000 Web sites generating more than 2.5 million impressions per day, the company said.
