Acme Packet Acquired by Oracle for $1.7 Billion

Oracle has announced its first major acquisition of 2013, Acme Packet

Acme Packet’s core product is Session Border Controller (SBC) technology that is critical to the operation of unified communications and voice networks.

Oracle will pay $29.25 per Acme Packet (APKT) share, which is a 22 percent Acme Packetpremium over the $23.93 the stock closed at on Friday afternoon. The stock portion of the acquisition is valued at $1.7 billion. The deal still requires the approval of Acme Packet shareholders and is expected to formally close in the first half of 2013.
