Enterprise OpenStack Clouds Don’t Need SDN [VIDEO]

Nebula’s founder and former NASA CTO Chris Kemp said that enterprises primarily want a private cloud that will integrate with existing networks.

“What some of these SDN technologies do is way more than most customers actually need,” Kemp said.

Nebula CEO Gordon Stit is also not particularly enthusiastic about SDN for private cloud deployments. Stit is no stranger to world of networking, having formerly served as CEO of Extreme Networks.

“I spent decades in networking, and you have to work with everything that is out there,” Stit said. “Bringing SDN into the mix at this stage of the market isn’t necessary and may be a mistake.”
