Riverbed Enters ADC Market with Stingray

Riverbed (NASDAQ:RVBD) is expanding its production portfolio this week with new Stingray Application Deliver Control (ADC), Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Web Content Optimization (WCO) technologies.

The new technologies come from Riverbed’s recent acquisitions of Zeus and Aptimize in July.

“This follow-on from our acquisitions is really starting to bring the acquired products into the Riverbed fold,” Apurva Davé, VP of product marketing at Riverbed told InternetNews.com. “We’re announcing more than just a new name, we’re announcing a new enterprise subscription model and security integration.”

The Stingray Traffic Manager is the new ADC product that leverages technology from Zeus. Dave explained that Riverbed has given the user interface a new look and feel over what it had at Zeus. The new Stingray Aptimizer, based on the former Aptimize technology is all about WCO for optimizing actual web content. On the security front the Stringray WAF provides security to the ADC and web content delivery.
