Toshiba is turning its recently-introduced Satellite P25 notebook into a wireless entertainment center.
The company on Monday unveiled a new version of the 17-inch laptop that uses Microsoft’s Windows XP Media Center Edition and adds a new DVD multi-drive that lets users burn both DVDs and CDs.
The new Satellite P25-S607 notebook is similar to the Satellite P25 model introduced earlier this month, but the addition of the Media Center software allows users to easily access multimedia files using the included remote control, as well as watch and record television.
Toshiba also added a new graphics processor, the Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 with 64MB of video memory.
The $2,699 notebook is powered by a 2.8GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor with hyper-threading technology and includes 512MB of memory, a 60GB hard drive, a 17-inch wide-angle XGA display, and built-in 802.11a/b wireless networking.
The P25 is Toshiba’s second Media Center notebook, after the Satellite 5205-S705, which was launched in June.
