As involvement in OpenStack has grown, so too has the number of core
projects. Today the core project includes Nova, Swift, Horizon dashboard and Keystone identity, as well as Cinder block storage and Quantum networking. Cinder and Quantum were new additions that came on board with the OpenStack Folsom release that debuted at the end of September.
At the OpenStack Grizzly Summit this week in San Diego, there was talk of multiple other projects. Among them is the RedDwarf Database as-a-Service effort and the Ceilometer billing project.
Which new project will land in the next major OpenStack release, codenamed Grizzly? The answer to that question is still being determined. In an interview conducted at the summit, OpenStack Foundation Executive Director Jonathan Bryce explained his views on what’s next.
