Google Ups Ante in Fight Against Spam

Is the war against spam winnable? It’s not clear spam will ever be completely eradicated, but security companies, IT departments, government regulators and others continue to develop solutions that, with varying degrees of success, head off annoying spam emails.

Now Google is claiming a first among major email vendors in providing a digital signature option at no additional cost to its Google Apps for business customers. Kelly Wanser, CEO of eCert Systems, said the Google Apps solution “is the simplest we’ve encountered.” eSecurity Planet has all the details.




Google has added another weapon to its arsenal in the ongoing battle against spam by giving Google Apps users a simple way to digitally sign email and authenticate their identity. Today, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced all Google Apps business customers will have the option of signing their messages with DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) as a way to help validate the sender.

Google said it’s the first major email platform to offer DKIM at no extra cost and that includes on-premises providers.
