Microsoft Adds Anti-Malware Engine to Forefront

Who’s winning the security battle inside your enterprise? Hopefully the good guys, but at any given time there may be end user’s whose systems are being compromised by either their own negligence (e.g. plugging an infected jump drive into a desktop PC) or some nefarious attack that’s penetrated the organization’s firewall.

So it’s a constant cat-and-mouse struggle that keeps security professionals on their toes devising both reactive and proactive solutions to head off intrusions. eSecurity Planet reports on the latest Microsoft security effort, an update to its Forefront Endpoint Protection product.


Microsoft said Thursday it has “released to manufacturing” (RTM) the latest version of its enterprise endpoint security offering which, among other new and extended features, adds an updated anti-malware engine.

Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 (FEP) has been in beta testing since August, along with the latest version of Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) free security offering for individuals and small businesses, Microsoft Security Essentials.
