Microsoft is stepping up the fight against spammers, announcing that it has filed a lawsuit against the architects of what it describes as the largest ever spam campaign executed on its Windows Live Hotmail service.
The software giant alleges that spammers orchestrated an “elaborate scheme” to evade its Hotmail and SmartScreen spam filters and pepper Internet users with unwanted messages. eSecurity Planet has the details.
Microsoft said it has filed suit to get the perpetrators behind one of the “largest ever” spam attacks on Windows Live Hotmail.
The suit was filed last week in U.S. District Court, but was just publicized Thursday night on Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) On the Issues blog by John Scarrow, general manager of safety services.
