A New Aid to Go Global

B2B e-commerce platform provider Ariba Inc. delivered
Ariba Buyer 7.0, the latest version of its application for the automation and
management
of corporate sourcing, buying and internal business processes.

The new Ariba Buyer, with functions ranging from requisition to payment to
travel and expense, now has language, currency and localization features
designed to expedite international commerce.

It provides an on-ramp to various marketplaces, business exchanges and the
Ariba Commerce Services Network (CSN), enabling companies to conduct business
with any trading partner worldwide.

Meanwhile, TIBCO Software Inc. , a provider
of real-time e-business infrastructure software, and Ariba jointly delivered
Ariba Integration Packs based on the TIBCO ActiveEnterprise product suite.

Under the multi-year agreement (financial terms were not disclosed), Ariba is
bundling TIBCO’s e-business infrastructure software with the new Buyer 7.0
application to provide easier integration between Ariba Buyer and Ariba Buyer
ASP edition with third-party enterprise applications including major
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems from SAP, Oracle and PeopleSoft.

Buyer 7.0 is available in eight languages: English, German, French, Spanish,
Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Japanese. It supports and converts multiple
currencies, including the euro, and it allows currency conversion to be
synchronized with a company’s
financial system. It also allows connection to third-party tax calculation
systems for local
taxation requirements.

Ariba said Buyer 7.0 can be installed in a single location while allowing
simultaneous international user access in the preferred local language.

“Ariba Buyer is a significant component of the Ariba B2B Commerce Platform,
providing a solution for automating the full e-commerce cycle from purchase
decision and requisition to fulfillment and payment,” said Charly Kleissner,
senior vice president of product development engineering for Ariba.

Ariba said Buyer 7 also will be made available in an Application Service
Provider (ASP) edition.
