Cupertino may be readying a revolutionary new tablet PC based on the iPhone’s design and interface. Or it may not. HardwareCentral looks at the latest grist for the rumor mill: A video that purports to show the much-rumored “iTablet” in all its glory.
Apple-watchers have seen a steady stream of reports and speculation that the iPhone maker has a tablet computer in the works. Apple (NASDAQ: APPL), as is its standard practice, isn’t saying anything about future product plans, but bloggers at the French Web site Nowhereelse
have stirred the pot by posting a short video of what appears to be a very sleek Apple tablet, though the posters make no claims to its authenticity.
The video — a YouTube posting of which has already attracted over 247,000 views — follows on the heels of a widely quoted research note by Oppenheimer analyst Yair Reiner last week that said that checks with Apple’s supply-chain “indicate the manufacturing cogs for the tablet are creaking into action and should begin to hit a mass-market stride in February.”
Endpoint Technologies analyst Roger Kay said he thinks the Nowhereelse tablet video is “a very well-made fake,” but added that it does indicate what an Apple tablet could offer.
