In a move aimed at rewarding its online customers,
AT&T WorldNet and
FreeRide Media LLC announced
an agreement under which AT&T WorldNet Service subscribers would acquire
points from FreeRide’s Web-based loyalty program.
Users enrolled in the loyalty program receive points for visiting sponsors’
Web sites, requesting samples, buying groceries on-line, making purchases from
sponsor’s sites and completing surveys, FreeRide said. After collecting a
certain amount of points, users can trade them in for consumer products and
services.
Under today’s agreement, AT&T WorldNet will give its members “start-up”
points, as well as “thank-you points” after six months. Users who collect
1,000 points can get a free month of WorldNet Internet access in addition
to the other product and service offers, the firms said.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“FreeRide rewards AT&T members for using the Internet as part of their
daily routine,” said Jordan Stanley, president of FreeRide. “Making
purchases online instead of at a store provides surfers with the added
bonus of earning points good towards ‘free stuff’ such as CDs, movie tickets,
magazines, gift certificates or even free AT&T WorldNet Service.
“FreeRide awards are becoming extremely popular with today’s on-line consumers
because it is easy to earn points and the awards don’t
have restrictions,” he added.
FreeRide, founded in 1995, boasts over 1,000 sponsors and 250,000 members
in its free service.
