Web-based music retailer CDnow today announced the launch of “My CDnow,” a shopping service that invites users to create personalized online music stores.

CDnow said the customizable service offers features such as a Wish List where customers can maintain lists of their favorite music products; a Gift Registry for posting gift preferences; an order history feature; and a personal CDnow music consultant for recommended titles.

A Favorite Artists tool is designed to connect customers to the artists they like, and users can also tap into a music rating system.

“CDnow became the pioneer of online music retailing through sustained technological innovations and leadership,” said Jason Olim, President and CEO of CDnow, in a statement. “CDnow pioneered many of the most popular online shopping features used today like: the shopping cart, buy-web links, intelligent album recommendations and Real Audio samples. Now we have pioneered the next level of personalization with the launch of My CDnow.”

My CDnow marks the latest in a series of announcements made by the pioneering company in recent weeks. The Jenkintown, PA-based firm signed a significant international distribution deal with MSI of Miami Corp. in August, and announced an expanded e-commerce partnership with Yahoo! Inc. last week to make CDnow the premier music e-tailer on a range of international Yahoo! sites.
