Comparison shopping company Deja.com Inc. launched a wireless application
of its Precision Buying Service, an online resource for researching and
buying products.
The company also announced a multi-channel distribution strategy highlighted
by an agreement with OmniSky Corp., provider of a wireless
Internet service for handheld devices such as the Palm V.
OmniSky launched a new wireless e-mail and Internet service that provides
consumers with the entirety of the Web under one unified user interface,
access to existing e-mail accounts, a modem solution for Palm V users and
flat-rate pricing.
Deja.com’s wireless Precision Buying Service features in-depth product
specifications, ratings and reviews that highlight consumers’ real-world
experiences with products, and a product-based comparison shopping service
that provides merchant pricing and availability. The company’s wireless
application also supplies a toll-free telephone number that enables consumers
to immediately purchase products anywhere.
“Consumers still do much of their shopping in bricks-and-mortar stores and
can now access crucial buying information away from their desktops,” said Tom
Phillips, president and chief executive officer of Deja.com. Palm VII users can download the
wireless Precision Buying Service by visiting the Palm site at www.palm.net. The application also will be
available as part of OmniSky’s wireless Internet and e-mail service.
Consumers also can access the Precision Buying Service wireless application
from the Deja.com Web site here.
Deja.com Inc. provides two powerful Web-based services — the Precision
Buying Service, and a Usenet discussion service.
