Minneapolis-based ESD firm Digital River formed a software sales
alliance with Mecklermedia’s Internet.com network of
Web sites.
Internet.com, provider of real-
time news and information resources for Internet professionals and Web
developers, will now offer Web site visitors the opportunity to purchase
software from its new online store, located at software.internet.com.
Products sold through the new store will include Digital River’s entire
inventory of software products, which is made up of more than 120,000 titles
from over 1,600 publishers and online dealers. Financial arrangements were not
disclosed.
The alliance with Westport, CT-based Mecklermedia provides Digital River
with another high-
profile channel through which its software partners can sell their products to
Web professionals. Internet.com said its sites currently serve approximately
20 million pages to one million unique visitors monthly, attracting some of
the most qualified Web developers and Internet professionals.
“By offering access to Digital River’s online database of software products,
we are able to furnish our audience with the ability to purchase products from
the largest selection of software available on the Internet,” said Alan M.
Meckler, chairman and CEO of Mecklermedia. “Additionally, Digital River’s e-
commerce solutions provide the added value that makes Internet.com a leading
resource for news, and now, downloadable software products.”
Said Digital River CEO, Joel Ronning: “The traffic that Internet.com receives
on a daily basis is a key benefit that will help us attract leading software
publishing partners. Additionally, our existing partners will have the
opportunity to sell more products to an audience that is accustomed to making
purchases over the Internet.”
