Digital River said it
signed a partnership agreement with game publisher MicroProse Inc. to
enable the online sale of MicroProse’s PC
games.
Digital River said it now manages the Internet sale and delivery of 19 of
MicroProse’s top-selling products, including MechCommander and Civilization
II, as well as the five most recently released titles. Financial terms of the
arrangement were not disclosed.
Digital River hosts and manages MicroProse’s electronic commerce site,
including all order and secure credit card transaction processing.
Additionally, Digital River handles the physical distribution of MicroProse’s
titles that are sold through Digital River’s extensive network of online
software dealers. MicroProse is also using Digital
River’s online phone ordering capabilities, available 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
Digital River said it is providing physical fulfillment of all orders via FedEx or
UPS. . . due to the large file sizes, these games will not be made available for
electronic download, a spokesman said.
“Digital River’s online marketing system provides a new opportunity to reach
additional buyers,” said Jeff Forestier, senior vice president of sales for
MicroProse. “Digital River’s reporting and graphic analysis systems give us
the sophisticated tracking and reporting ability we need to measure the
success of our promotional efforts.”
Digital River provides more than 1,500 software publishers and online dealers
with its proprietary technology for Internet delivery of more than 120,000
software and other digital products.
Global Retail Intra-Net Introduces New Web Site and Catalog Service
Global Retail Intra-Net in Lino Lakes, MN said it has signed an agreement with
Elite Fashions I.C.S., which will offer Global’s GRIN Web site and interactive
catalog development services.
The service is aimed at small to medium sized apparel companies. Financial
terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The new GRIN service will specialize in offering an online presence by
developing a “highly marketable Web site and state-of-the-art interactive
electronic catalog capable of worldwide commercial transactions,” the company
said.
