E-Commerce Address Verifier Launched

Intelligent Systems Inc. delivered
iRAVES, its Internet Real Time Address Verification Enterprise Service for
use by e-tailers.

Based on RAVES, version 2.8, the U.S.’s only commercially available address
verification system, iRAVES is an Internet service provided on a subscription
basis.

iRAVES gives ISPs and corporate users immediate address verification for
Internet sites and e-commerce applications by checking address input in real
time against a
database of more than 360 million verified U.S. addresses.

“iRAVES is a separate solution from our RAVES database licensing program,”
said Raj Sundaresan, president and CEO of Intelligent Systems. “iRAVES is
provided as an Internet service for those who need a fast and reliable
address verification system for their e-commerce applications, but who can’t
afford the expense of hosting and licensing the RAVES database at their own
site.”

With the service bureau model, subscribers won’t have to worry about
maintenance of the system or upgrades, which are provided on a bi-monthly
basis as part of the subscription, the company said.

Anytime a name is entered into an e-commerce application, iRAVES validates
the address by checking the information provided against a database of more
than 360 million verified U.S. addresses.

Addresses verified by iRAVES are
checked and cleansed for their spelling and accuracy and the result is
returned to the e-commerce application.

Users are notified when an address is invalid and if the suite or apartment
number is missing. After iRAVES verifies the address, primary suite or
apartment number, city,
state, zip or zip+4, and county, as well as the area code, it enhances the
data by also providing geocode, latitude and longitude for that particular
address.

“iRAVES prevents the “garbage” from going into any e-commerce database,” said
Sundaresan.
